Shoshone Falls

On a recent road trip to Oregon, which I've done more times than I can count, I decided to change things up a bit and make the trip a little more interesting.

I had heard wonderful things about Shoshone Falls in Idaho but had never visited them.

After a bit of research, I found that they were just off the freeway near Twin Falls, Idaho. So, I made the quick detour and headed there.

These small, yet powerful falls have often been described as being more impressive than the great Niagara Falls in New York and Canada.

As I made my way from the parking lot (a small fee was charged to get in), I was quickly underwhelmed.

They have the ability to cut off the water supply to several of the falls. So, at the time I visited, just one section of the falls was in operation.

Despite the setback, the one set of falls working were a marvel to behold. They were massive all alone. When looking at the rest of the area where the falls normally are, one could easily see the impressive nature of these falls.

The key to planning a trip to see these falls in person would be to make sure that they are all going at the same time. You'll still see a wonder to behold, but I'm sure the spectacle will increase substantially if that's the case.

I'm planning on stopping by again to visit these falls on my next road trip into Oregon, but this time I'm going to make sure that they're all running.
