Rome, Italy

Before I began traveling the globe, if there was one city that I had always wanted to visit - it was Rome, Italy.

Rome has it all. Ancient, historical ruins and buildings, such as the Pantheon, a well-known micro-country called the Vatican, which includes St. Peter's Basilica, as well as the Italian language and all the gelato you could possible eat.

Tourists can spend several days or even weeks here visiting and exploring the city and surrounding areas.

When I began planning my first visit to the country's capital city, I knew that we would need plenty of time in order to see everything.

We had to have time to see the infamous Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Roman Forum, Sistine Chapel, Spanish Steps and Palatine Hill, among other sites.

It seems like I was taking a picture at every turn along those ancient streets. Everywhere we looked, there was something new to look at.

We must have wandered into a hundred different ancient churches and cathedrals. And eaten about a hundred different scoops of gelato.

We only stayed a few days, so we weren't able to see absolutely everything. Naturally, I had to plan another trip the following year with my family.

We spent another few days in Rome as a family, and I was able to see several of the same familiar sites as well as others that I hadn't gotten to before.

What was most interesting to me is that even though I had seen a lot of the buildings and historical sites just the year before, they were perhaps even more intriguing the second time around.

I'm not really sure how to explain it, but Rome certainly holds a special place in my heart. I will always be daydreaming, waiting for my next adventure here.
