Pantheon in Rome, Italy
The Pantheon in Rome, Italy, is one of the most well-known tourist spots in the entire city.
It's a location that many have heard of, but not many know exactly what it is.
The Pantheon is a former Roman temple that is now a church. It was commissioned to be built around the time of Jesus Christ.
It's a magnificent structure nestled in the mix of the bustling city. You just might miss it if you don't look in the right direction.
I've had the pleasure of visiting this distinct landmark on two different occasions. The most memorable one, however, is the second encounter - surprisingly.
It was just beginning to rain. And I mean rain hard.
The Pantheon was the next location that my family and I were planning on visiting. With the storm clouds approaching, we hurriedly made our way there.
It seems like all the other tourists nearby had the same idea. It was also close to the closing point of the day.
We made it just in the nick of time - and were the very last tourists allowed entrance into the building.
There's really not a whole lot of places you can go once you're inside. It's, essentially, just an open-domed room. You can wander around and look at all of the intricate design work and marvel and the magnificence of the structure.
Once we had finished looking around (and the rain had slowed to a stop), we made our way back into Rome for the rest of the day's activities.
The Pantheon is truly not a sight to miss when in Rome.
