Temple of Zeus

Traveling to Athens, Greece is an entire vacation in and of itself. Apart from seeing the likes of the Parthenon and the Panathenaic Olympic Stadium, another amazing wonder to see is the Temple of Zeus.

The Temple of Zeus is located near to the Acropolis Museum and the Arch of Hadrian, also popular tourist destinations.

It's a fenced off area that you need to pay to see. The first time I went to Athens, I bought a special ticket that allowed me to visit four or five of the most famous tourist destinations out of eight or so.

I used this ticket to see the Temple of Zeus.

As I was saying before, it's fairly easy to locate. And once you get there there are photo opportunities in nearly every position.

A lot of the pillars have fallen to the ground. It's interesting to see how the pillars were formed, as the different sections are all lying on the ground in a row - forming the columns.

Additionally, there is a more complete portion of the Temple that still stands erect.

I think a lot of tourists enjoy stopping here because they are able to see how the ancient ruins were originally formed. And, of course, Zeus is a very recognizable name among Greek mythology.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at the Temple of Zeus. Although I didn't spend more than 20 minutes, here it vividly remains in my memory.
