St. Peter's Basilica
When planning a trip to Rome, one must always plan on going to the micro-country of the Vatican.
The main attraction in the Vatican is, of course, St. Peter's Basilica.
This is perhaps the most famous basilica in the entire world. And for good reason.
When I went there with my friends, we had read online that the lines and wait time were enormous, unless you got there bright and early.
So, we tried just that. We woke up and left around 6:30 from our Airbnb. By the time that we got there, there was already a massive line formed to get in.
So, moral of the story is if you want to avoid waiting around, you'll want to get there likely by 6 a.m.
Once we went through the hour or so long line, we had to pass through rigorous security.
Let it be known that there is no entrance fee for this spectacle. I guess that they figure the wait time is a fee enough.
Once you're inside, you can pay to go to the very top and look around, but I don't think it's necessary.
We spent around an hour inside looking around. There's a lot to see. I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but just know that you could probably spend anywhere from five minutes to five hours here.
There are other things to look at in the Vatican, but this is for sure the highlight of the country.
