The Parthenon

I've been to Athens, Greece twice now. The biggest thing to stand-out about both visits was the Parthenon.

The Parthenon is instantly recognizable by most in the world. It's the most famous thing to see in all of the Greece - and one of the most famous things to see in all of Europe.

It has so much history and is an iconic piece of Athenian history.

Each time I visit this castle on a hill I'm struck by its prominence.

If visiting, you'll easily be able to find the place. It does stand out. There are multiple entrances, but there is a fee to enter of around 20 euros. The ticket that I have boughten also allows for entrance into three additional national historical spots.

It will be crowded no matter when you go. Do yourself a favor, though, and try and go when there will be less people. The first time I went was during a rainstorm. By the time I made it to the top of the hill, the rain was gone and so were most of the crowds.

There are other buildings on top of the hill but none that marvel the Parthenon.

If you go to the natural history museum located a few stone's throws from the Parthenon, you'll be able to see a lot of the decorations that went around or inside of the Parthenon. I still don't quite understand why they were removed in the first place - I mean, why destroy something like that? At any rate, it will cost you more money to enter that museum.

The whole experience, though, is definitely worth every cent. And I absolutely mean it. I mean, I did go two years in a row after all.
