Stockholm, Sweden

When planning my second trip to Europe - Stockholm, Sweden was the first stop. Why is that? Well, we took a Norwegian Air flight direct from Las Vegas to Stockholm. It was just over $300 roundtrip. Quite a steal. But more on budget air travel on a future post.

I was with two brothers and a sister-in-law on this particular trip and we planned to only stay one night. So, we had roughly 24 hours total in the city.

The reason for the short visit? It's pricy up in Scandinavia country. It kind of reminded me of when I visited Switzerland. Very expensive. But just like in Switzerland, it's beautiful everywhere you look.

Sweden, particularly the capitol of Stockholm, is roughly one-third heavily inhabited, one-third parks and one-third water.

It makes for some great pictures. There's so much variety everywhere you look.

We spent most of the first night wandering around the city and just getting lost in what we saw. There's a great old section of town that has plenty of restaurants.

We walked and walked around looking for a place with authentic Swedish meatballs made of reindeer meat. It was surprisingly difficult to find what we were looking for. Don't worry - we eventually did find a place.

My brother went to a famous museum there that houses an old Viking war ship. It has some other things, but that's the main attraction. Spending around 20 euros for the ticket didn't entice me that much, so the rest of us waited at a nearby park.

It's memories like that that will always stick with me about Stockholm. Lazily spending an afternoon at the park, surrounded by family and lakes.

I wish that I had more time to explore Stockholm and hope to visit again someday soon. Despite the pricey nature of the place, it has more than enough redeeming qualities to warrant a short stay.
