Bridal Veil Falls

I've visited Bridal Veil Falls more times than I can count.

I've been there in the summer and I've even been there in the winter. Both options are very different experiences that are great ways to spend a few hours.

During the spring, summer and fall the hike to Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon is much of the same.

You'll find very limited parking because of the popularity of the short hike to the falls.

Once you do find parking, however, you can begin the trek to the waterfall. The way is clearly marked on a paved path. That path goes far beyond Bridal Veil Falls, (in fact, it stretches all the way to the dam at the end of the canyon) but you only need to walk for 5-10 minutes in order to reach the falls.

You'll know you've arrived by the large crowd at the base of the falls. There's a small man-made pool usually stocked with fish at the base. There's a large open rocky are where the falls come down that many people like to walk through to get closer to the actual falls themselves.

You can also experience more of the falls by taking the trail a little further past the base of the falls. It takes you up to a higher area of the falls.

You may, at times, see people propelling down the side of the falls with equipment. It's a popular place.

In winter, however, things are a little different.

You won't see a whole lot of people at Bridal Veil Falls during the cold winter months.

In fact, I've only ever been there once during the winter. But I would definitely go back and would highly recommend it if you're looking for a different experience.

I went when the trail was covered in snow. The path is still easily marked, so there was no difficulty finding the falls.

A lot of the area around the falls is completely frozen, but the water still comes down quite heavily.

I took the side trail to get higher up by the falls. Be careful if you decide to do this, though, as I slipped multiple times.

But it was certainly worth it for the pictures that I was able to take.

No matter when you decide to visit Bridal Veil Falls, it makes for a memorable few hours of easy hiking.
