Abbey Road
I am a huge Beatles fan, so when I decided to travel to London, England, I had to take a visit to Abbey Road.
London is full of interesting sites and places to explore. Abbey Road is certainly one of them. However, it's not the easiest place to get to.
I had to take the metro pretty far out and then walk for a good 15 or so minutes to get there.
Upon arriving, I noticed that it was a fairly busy intersection. And, being how British people are, they believe that you're actually just trying to cross the road - for the most part. So, they slow down.
The locals are, in particular, not huge fans of the crosswalk because they are trying to get to every day places without a hassle. But fans are constantly trying to stop in the middle of the road to take pictures.
I, myself, was there for probably 10-15 minutes trying to get a good picture. It was actually really difficult. Besides the fact that my photographer was...less than experienced...the road was quite busy.
I had read that there would often be a very large line of people waiting to get their pictures there, but that wasn't the case for us.
There were only a handful of people when we arrived and left. I initially wondered if we were even in the right spot.
Thankfully, though, we saw Abbey Road Studios right next door (no public entrance there, unfortunately).
If you have the patience, and around a half an hour or so, you can get a great picture. Just be sure to avoid all the frequent traffic. It's not a very slow speed limit around there.
I would also recommend traveling there early in the morning, as we did. I think you'll find crowds to be at a minimum then.
Once you're done with that, you can head over to the British Library and see some original handwritten Beatles lyrics on display - free of charge.
It's a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
